Train The Trainers: Umicore Holds VMZ Pro-Zinc Training Session in Raleigh

June 5, 2012 - PRLog -- (Raleigh, NC) -- Umicore Building Products USA recently held a VMZPro-Zinc Training Session in Raleigh to teach Pro-Zinc trainers, who already having experience in sheet metal work, seaming techniques that will be used on restoration projects on historic homes.

VMZ Pro-Zinc is a comprehensive program of instructional services offered by Umicore Building Products USA (UBP) for the use of VMZINC® building materials and related installation products. A working knowledge in other metals is a prerequisite for all VMZ Pro-zinc seminars.

Instructional classes take the form of seminars varying in length from one to three days held in special VMZ Pro-zinc training centers. These centers are conveniently located across the US and Canada, including Raleigh, North Carolina.

American or European craftsmen with exceptional experience in sheet metal and zinc work conduct the seminars. The Raleigh course, taught by Andreas Hausherr of Zurich, Switzerland, covered the principles of working with zinc and installation of the company’s pre-engineered panels, Dexter and Adeka.

Class participants learned the basics about zinc rain-screens, proper installation techniques, seaming techniques that don’t require soldering, and working with the metal.

Participants at the Raleigh session included John Sheridan, Steve Lage, Richard Thorne, Joe Helming, Jay Elsoffer, Philippe Pollien, and Erik Berg.

“Every participant leaves the training session able to understand and communicate the concerns involved in the proper installation of our zinc panel systems,” said Dan Nicely, Umicore Building Product’s director of market development.
