Director Ryan Pickett's Short Film Look Wins Its Sixth Award At Los Angeles Movie Awards

May 30, 2012 - PRLog -- Film director Ryan Pickett of Nashville, Tennessee is thrilled to announce that short film Look has won two awards at the 2012 (II) Los Angeles Movie Awards. Seven-minute short film Look is the recipient of the Award of Excellence as well as Best Original Score, which was created by California-based musician Deepak Ramapriyan, who is also known as The Other Deepak. Look was competing in the Student Category.

Ramapriyan who has a degree is Neurobiology composed original music for Look and he sang on the track. Some of Ramapriyan’s most recent work includes being a lead singer / writer in his rock band B.O.L.T. and lead singer of the world sacred music ensemble Breath of Life Tribe as well as being the owner of the FUNdamentals of Music and Movement San Fernando Valley franchise for music therapy for daycare children. Several critics have praised Look, including a four-star review from Film Threat. Look follows a lonely barmaid (Starina Johnson) who pines for a man (John Ferguson). When the man sees a beautiful model (Theresa Meeker Pickett) he is in awe and he follows her. Scenes of visual poetry are inspired by Coco Chanel short films as well as by high fashion ads. Look is dream-inspired and avant-garde. Look has previously won an Award of Merit in the Accolade Competition, Award of Merit in the Best Shorts Competition, Gold Award in the California Film Awards and a Silver Lei Award in the Honolulu Film Awards. Director Ryan Pickett has worked in the entertainment business for over ten years with positions that include the Manager of Worldwide Distribution at Playboy Enterprises and Vault Librarian at Ascent Media. Pickett is a television actor who played the Young Oscar Bluth on Arrested Development. Picket has directed two short films, including Look and You Only Loved Me Twice, with Look shot on the RED One 4K. You Only Loved Me Twice as well as a business proposal presented by Pickett helped him become a top five finalist in the showcase event in the USA for Global Entrepreneurship Week The Race to BE hosted by media mogul Russell Simmons at Sony Pictures Studios in Los Angeles.
