May 28, 2012 - PRLog -- Today, the IAQ Video Network and Cochrane & Associates announced the release of another online video to help educate the public about issues that may impact their health.  The latest educational video discusses pollen allergies, hay fever and IAQ.

Allergic rhinitis is an allergic inflammation of the nasal airways that occurs when an allergen, such as pollen, is inhaled by an individual with a sensitized immune system.  This type of allergic rhinitis is commonly referred to as hay fever.

Pollen is an allergen that can aggravate allergic rhinitis and several respiratory diseases, including asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.  Aeroallergens can also act with other harmful air pollution to worsen respiratory diseases.

“Allergies are common and a person’s genes and environment may help determine if one is more likely to get allergies,” reported Paul Cochrane, President of Cochrane and Associates, the company behind the IAQ Video Network and the new public outreach video.  “There are steps people can take to prevent or reduce their hay fever.  These may include avoiding the outdoors during pollen season, utilizing air filtration and testing their indoor environments for high levels of pollen and other allergens such as mold spores, pet dander and other indoor air quality (IAQ) contaminants. We hope this video helps to educate people about pollen allergies and ways they can protect their health.”
