MY Museum’s Celebrates National Fishing and Boating Week June 2 – 10, 2012
Meet Geoff Malloway from Central Coast Fly Fishing June 5th, 2012 at 3:00 p.m.

MONTEREY, CA  -- Take me fishing!  MY Museum located at 425 Washington Street in Monterey, celebrates National Fishing and Boating Week with a special guest presentation!  On Tuesday, June 5th from 3:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. meet Geoff Malloway from Central Coast Fly Fishing.

Malloway believes getting kids involved in fly fishing is extremely important.  Fly fishing teaches kids values such as the importance of all life on our planet and why that needs to be passed on from generation to generation.   The children will learn the importance of conservation as well as the reasoning behind it.   Kids acquire new skills and learn many fascinating facts about trout, their environment, and feeding habits but most importantly…how to catch them on a fly rod!

Attending the MY Museum fishing class, kids will learn to cast, knot tying, rigging the rods and fly selection.  The first 50 kids will also enjoy a fish shaped cookie made by Chef Brandon Miller, from Mundaka, who is an avid fly fishing enthusiast.  Everyone that attends will be entered into a chance to win the ultimate Father’s Day raffle from Central Coast Fly Fishing.  The winner will be drawn at 4:00 p.m. on June 5th.  The winner will receive a private fly casting lesson with dad on Saturday, June 16th,  at Central Coast Fly Fishing.  Entry is included with your admission to MY Museum for the day.
The program is complimentary with paid admission to MY Museum and free to all MY Museum members. Space is limited so reservations are encouraged. For more information, call MY Museum (831) 649-6444.

MY Museum is a playground for the mind. The museum was developed to provide an environment where curiosity and creativity flourish, while both children and adults learn together through experience. Located at 425 Washington Street, in Downtown Monterey, the Monterey County Youth Museum provides an environment unique to any other in Monterey County. For more information about MY museum, please contact Lauren Cohen at (831) 649-6444 or lauren@mymuseum.org.

About Geoff Malloway, Central Coast Fly Fishing

Geoff Malloway never thought his first introduction to fly fishing in 1973 would be a gateway into a life enriched with outdoor adventures and the satisfaction of sharing his fly fishing passion with others.  With a background in fisheries and wildlife management and teaching, Geoff is well suited to helping others experience the great outdoors with fly rod in hand.  “I’ve come to realized that fly fishing isn’t about catching fish at all…it’s a catalyst for developing an appreciation for the natural world around us and deriving from it a sense of well-being.”  Since 1996, Geoff has owned Central Coast Fly Fishing, a full-service fly fishing specialties shop located in Carmel, CA.
