Supermodel Farah Zulaikha Stomps Out Domestic Violence On Mother's Day 2012Supermodel with a super heart Farah Zulaikha makes history with Milagros Day Worldwide as Host and Master Of Ceremonies of the Inaugural Mother's Day Anti-Domestic Violence Walk in New York City on May 13, 2012.
By: CHARITY WIRE The supermodel activist (and recently named Hearst Media's UGO.COM Smartest Model In The World ranking number one on a list that included the most prestigious top models of all time) was dressed appropriately and adorably in a custom pink "I LOVE MOM" Swarovski Crystal encrusted t-shirt which she designed herself for the walk in collaboration with Just Jen. She paired the outfit with cobalt blue Balmain zippered skinny jeans that accentuated her mile-long legs, a cutoff light denim vest and colorful sneakers for the nearly two mile trek across the bridge from City Hall in Manhattan to Cadman Plaza in Brooklyn. With her trademark bubbly personality and charm, Zulaikha began the event by urging the crowd to join her in "stomping out domestic violence" during the bridge walk. Zulaikha kept the crowd on their feet and full of energy throughout the entire four-hour program and introduced the line-up of inspirational guest speakers including Assemblyman Felix Ortiz, international motivational speaker/author Karen Hoyos, and public figure Carlos Anaya. Speaking with Mary Frost of The Brooklyn Eagle, the supermodel spoke candidly about her thoughts on domestic violence saying "“The message is, let’s talk about it. You can’t sweep it under the rug. You need to recognize the problem of domestic violence. In certain ethnic cultures, it’s something that people accept way too easily. The horror people should feel just isn’t there. Some might say, ‘Why didn’t she just get up and go?’ It’s not that simple,” Zulaikha said, adding, “Men, women, even pets get abused.” Milagros Day Worldwide was started by domestic violence survivor and Zulaikha's personal friend Dawn Diaz whom the supermodel refers to as "a sister and a leader." Named after Diaz's mother Milagros, whom she witnessed suffering from domestic abuse during her lifetime. Milagros Day Worldwide provides counseling, treatment and rehabilitation programs for survivors of domestic abuse in an effort to re-build lives that are destroyed from domestic abuse. Farah Zulaikha made it a family affair as well. She was joined in the press pit by her prestigious family including proud papa Dr. Imtiaz Mallick MD/Fellow of the American College of Physicians, her mother Nayyar K. Mallick LME the celebrity skincare guru and CEO/Founder of PMR Fountain Of Youth (an official sponsor of the event and for which Zulaikha is the official spokesperson) Photo: https://www.prlog.org/ End
