-- Goodbye to Gandhi is a story of the survival of an immigrant Indian family in England in the 1970's and 80's. Prajapati, an young doctor qualified in India arrives in England and is soon joined by his young wife Urvashi and their two little daughters Punarvasu and Apoorva. Their life in the foreign land is a happy one with the support and affection of many family friends, who all share the same concerns and fears of the middle-class first generation of Indians. While their friends are struggling to better themselves and maintain their cultural identity in an alien society they live in, Urvashi and her family have been a source of comfort, happiness and inspiration to all the friends. However, the family is struck by tragedies and the struggle for survival against all odds is the test of endurance and of sanity amidst the chaos. The story tells of the triumph over tragedy.
