Living Word Receives Certificate of Appreciation

May 4, 2012 - PRLog -- Brooklyn Park, Minnesota (May 4, 2012)--Living Word Christian Center in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, was recognized earlier this week by the Minnesota National Guard Family Programs with a certificate of appreciation for its Homes of Heroes outreach program.

During the recent deployment of the 34th Infantry Red Bulls, two dozen volunteers from Living Word invested 200 hours servicing military families through seventeen separate home repair and maintenance projects. Jonell Wilson from the Brooklyn Park Family Assistance Center made the presentation of the certificate to Pastor Phil Winn, the outreach pastor at Living Word.

The Minnesota National Guard's 1st Brigade Combat Team, 34th Infantry Division deployed to Iraq and Kuwait in May 2011. A total of 2,400 soldiers were mobilized for a one-year mission as part of the drawdown phase of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Because many families of deployed troops were in need of home maintenance and repair projects, the Homes of Heroes team of carpenters and laborers from Living Word volunteered to help.

Founded in 1980, Living Word Christian Center is a local, nondenominational church in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, led by Pastor Mac Hammond. Through various ministries and outreaches, Living Word continually strives to reach people, touch lives, and make a difference.
