Follow on Google News | John E. Harvey Jr., Achieves Toastmasters Top LevelToastmasters International announced today that John E. Harvey Jr., of Newark, NJ has achieved the rank of Distinguished Toastmaster. It is an accomplishment earned by less than 2 percent of the more than 260,000 Toastmasters members worldwide.
By: Anna Banks, 2011-2012 District 83 PRO “The Distinguished Toastmaster designation is given only to those who have demonstrated outstanding leadership and communication skills and have used these skills to mentor others in their self-development efforts,” said Lisa Pantano, DTM and District 83 Governor. “John has met all of Toastmasters International rigorous requirements to become a Distinguished Toastmaster. I congratulate him for achieving this honor.” To earn the Distinguished Toastmaster designation, a member must demonstrate excellence in public speaking in many formats, including multiple presentations, mentoring up-and-coming speakers and helping newly chartered clubs. To become a Distinguished Toastmaster, John Harvey gave more than 40 public presentations in his club and in the community, and also performed 27 leadership projects. John also received his High Performance Leadership Award and served as Area 25 Governor for two years followed by one year as District 83’s Division B Governor. “John is a person of whom I never had a doubt would reach this goal. John's adoption of the three E's (Energy, Enthusiasm and Engagement) and his approach to tasks and the ease he exhibits make him a natural leader and mentor.” Said Pamela Winter, DTM. Earning the Distinguished Toastmasters award typically requires five to eight years of service to the organization. John Harvey is a member of Solix Toastmasters Club and has been a member of Toastmasters for just over six years. He works as a Grant Compliance Reviewer for Solix Incorporated in Parsippany NJ.
