April 27, 2012 - PRLog -- Persian Cat Press, a publisher of interactive picture book, graphic novel and other iStory apps for iPad and iPhone, is dramatically dropping the price of its well-received debut release, The Gift: An Interactive Storybook ahead of a series of updates to the app.

From Friday 27 April, the price of the universal version of The Gift: An Interactive Storybook – which is suitable for both iPad and iPhone – will drop from £4.99 to 69 pence in the UK, from $6.99 to 99 cents in the US, and from A$7.49 to 99 cents in Australia, with equivalent reductions in every App Store around the world.

The price drop is in advance of a series of updates of The Gift which will focus on each of the seven “wise and kindly” Oomorel characters in the story in turn, with ‘character cards’ including details of the individual Oomorels’ backstories, vital statistics, likes and dislikes and so on.

Written by Jos Carlyle and illustrated by Dan Mynard, The Gift: An Interactive Storybook is a delightful original tale that combines familiar elements of classic storytelling and animation with cutting-edge technology to create a truly unique reading experience for children aged four and older. The Oomorels are central to the story.

The Gift: An Interactive Storybook has received a rapturous reception everywhere from the Guardian and Kirkus Reviews to Appolicious and Children’s Technology Review since it was first published in January 2012, as well as featuring in Forbes, BBC Click Online, O’Reilly Radar and the Manchester Evening News.

“The attention to detail is remarkable… The Gift balances carefully chosen interactivity with a classic tale that will appeal to children and their parents…” -- PadGadget

“Full of unique interactivity that will engage readers in the story's progress… A fascinating book with a unique approach to storytelling…” -- Digital Storytime

“An original tale with a great deal of heart…” -- The iPhone Mom

“Awesome…” -- Appolicious

Alongside Jos Carlyle’s timeless narrative and Dan Mynard’s beautiful oil-on-canvas artwork, The Gift: An Interactive Storybook boasts an enchanting soundtrack by Mamma Freedom, elegant typography by Stephen Nuttall, an adorable narration by Nick Hughes and magical animations by Paire Creative – all suffused with a wealth of interactivity that enhances rather than detracts from the story.

“We wanted to add further value to The Gift: An Interactive Storybook with these Oomorel character cards and have reduced the price of the app to ensure that as many people as possible have the opportunity to find out more about these wonderful creatures,” says Jos Carlyle, who is also Creative Director at Persian Cat Press.

“Anyone who has already bought the app will get these updates absolutely free of charge – and if you haven’t yet bought the app, there’s never been a better time to do so.”

A free version of the app, The Gift Lite: An Interactive Storybook, which works for both iPad and iPhone, is also available from the App Store and iTunes.
