PRLog -- Wendy Riley, founder of Moms On The Move Fundraising, received the Soroptimist's Ruby Award for 2012, presented by the Sierra Nevada Chapter of the Soroptimist organization, for her vision and dedication in creating Moms on the Mountains, an annual school fundraising event. Over the years, thousands of women have participated in the event, gathering for a day of adventure and camaraderie and, in the process, raised money for local schools in Nevada County. The community event, now in its 18th year continues to raise funds for local education programs with over $500,000 donated to date.
The Soroptimist Ruby Award acknowledges women who, through their personal or professional activities, work to improve the lives of women and girls. The work of these women helps promote the issues which are important to the Soroptimist organization. Honorees are ordinary women who have worked in extraordinary ways to benefit women and girls.
Moms On The Move Fundraising (MOMs) is also the recipient of the Apple Award from the California Consortium of Education Foundations. The MOMs fundraising program is now available in a step-by-step comprehensive guidebook. For more information visit
