Live Healthy & Thrive Youth Foundation Wins APS Award!

April 18, 2012 - PRLog -- Atlanta Public Schools held an awards ceremony on April 17, at Benjamin E. Mays High School to honor the creation of powerful partnerships, bridging the gap between students and the community. Live Healthy &Thrive Youth Foundation, Inc, (LHTYF) was one of the recipients of the "Outstanding Partnership Award" given by the Atlanta Public Schools Department of K-12 College & Career Readiness. On hand to accept the award was Lori A. Manns, founder and president of Live Healthy & Thrive Youth Foundation.The award recognized LHTYF for its partnership with APS in providing high school seniors who plan to major in medicine/health-care, culinary arts or education with a $500 book scholarship to supplement expenses in their freshman year of college.

This past December, at the 2011 Pinnacle Awards & Scholarship Gala, LHTYF awarded 3 APS high school seniors with $500 scholarships each. Among the recipients were students from Benjamin E. Mays High School, South Atlanta School of Law & Social Justice and Booker T. Washington High School.  "We were thrilled to launch our scholarship program with APS to provide this opportunity for Atlanta high school students. We know APS has some of the best and brightest seniors in the country and we're very proud to reward them for their hard work" said Manns. LHTYF plans to continue the scholarship program in 2012.
