April 17, 2012 - PRLog -- Evanston, IL – Evanston Cellars, LLC (www.evanstoncellars.com), announced today the start of its operations on Chicago’s North Shore. The new food and wine lifestyles company will begin its business activities by organizing personalized tours of wine trails within two hours of downtown Chicago. Future offerings for the business will include specialized wine distribution to retailers and restaurants featuring artisanal wines from around the Midwest, producing wine education and tasting events, and hosting wine and food dinners with local restaurants that offer menus that highlight locally-sourced ingredients.

“One of the joys of living in Chicago is finding the hidden gems to be found in our own backyard,” says Evanston Cellars founder and president Dileep Gangolli. “Most people, even serious wine aficionados, are not aware of the robust wine industry taking root here in the Midwest.  Learning about wines and Midwest viticulture offers a fun and entertaining way to spend a day and we plan to be the leader in creating an appreciation for fine artisanal wines being produced in the Midwest.”

As part of educating both local and visiting wine drinkers to our fine regional wines, Evanston Cellars will offer guided tours of two local wine trails - the Lake Michigan Shore Wine Trail and the Illinois River Wine Trail - both within a two-hour drive of Chicago.  Traveling in easy-to-manage groups of six to ten people, Evanston Cellars will visit four wineries on each trail tasting prime vintages and discussing the unique qualities of each winery’s cellars.  Dileep Gangolli, an experienced winemaker, will be the host for all tours and will be joined by his wife, Janice MacDonald, an expert in wine and food pairings.

Tours will leave from convenient locations around downtown Chicago and the North Shore.  Each tour is expected to take approximately nine hours in total travel time.  Price per individual will range from $150 (without lunch) and $175 with a gourmet picnic lunch. Pricing is inclusive of all wine tasting fees at each winery that is visited.  During this first summer of operations, tours will be offered between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Reservations are required and can be made by phone or email.  Due to limited space, a 30% deposit is required for reserving a seat on all tours.
