By: Katie Wagner Social Media BeSeen was created through a partnership between Web Wise Kids, a national non-profit organization promoting internet safety for youth, and Carnegie Melon University. The game was created to engage kids before they begin to use social networking sites, and teach them about online safety when accessing social networking through their mobile devices. BeSeen is the biggest initiative in Web Wise Kids’ history, and joins a list of award-winning educational video games produced by the organization. The app is available for free download on both iPhone and Android platforms. The BeSeen ad will appear in newspapers in Washington DC, North and South Carolina, Dallas, TX, Los Angeles, CA and Northern California (Silicone Valley). The ad is expected to reach approximately 1.3 million people who read USA Today, as well as an additional 1.7 million from Facebook. The social networking site has agreed to feature the insert online on their official family and internet safety page.
