"May Group Exhibit" at Richard Boyd Art Gallery Peaks Island, Maine

April 11, 2012 - PRLog -- (Peaks Island, ME), "May Group Exhibit" at Richard Boyd Art Gallery opens May 4th from 10:00 AM through 5:00 PM. The multi media exhibit features works by five artists working in the media of sculpture, paintings, pottery and glass. Works by sculptor Judy O'Donnell, painters Jeanne O'Toole Hayman and Jay LaBrie, potter Richard (Rick) Boyd and blown glass by Keith Weiskamp are on view daily from 10:00 AM through 5:00 PM, through May 27th.

Judy O'Donnell an artist and educator for over thirty years, creates paintings and sculpture in her Falmouth studio. O'Donnell's reverence for nature is expressed in her figurative sculptures which aspire to show harmony between life forms found in nature and man. Jeanne O'Toole Hayman a painter and printmaker for over twenty years, creates oil paintings depicting primarily landscapes and seascapes. Jeanne's use of complex color and the impasto technique bring a distinctive depth and complexity to her work. Jay laBrie creates acrylic paintings of landscapes and landmarks in Maine. LaBrie's use of color and subtle hues capture the fine details of each study. Richard (Rick) Boyd a retired nurse anesthetist has created pots for over thirty five years. Boyd works in all clay bodies and creates hand made functional pottery and ceramic art. Keith Weiskamp creates traditional and contemprary glass pieces using a combination of Venetian glassblowing and Japanese metal foil tecniques.

Richard Boyd Art Gallery is located on Peaks Island, Maine at the corner of Island Avenue and Epps Street, first building on the right. The gallery exhibits original 20th and 21st century works of art by established and up and coming artists with ties to Maine, working in the media of glass, paintings, pottery and sculpture. An art studio producing original hand made works of art with a focus on ceramic art and pottery is located on the second floor. The gallery is open daily May through September from 10:00 AM through 5:00 PM. Additional hours are by appointment or chance. The gallery is open through 8:00 PM on the first Friday of each Month.
