   FORT MYERS, FLA., March 20, 2012 – A new FDA-approved procedure that firms and lifts facial skin without surgery is now available in Fort Myers. Dr. Stephen Prendiville is the first facial plastic surgeon in Fort Myers to offer Ultherapy, which uses ultrasound technology to treat the skin’s deep support structures resulting in natural lift and toning without surgery.
   Ultherapy will be discussed along with other procedures for rejuvenating the face at a seminar Dr. Prendiville will conduct Wednesday, April 11, at 11:30 a.m. at Sanibel Harbour Marriott Resort & Spa, 17260 Harbour Pointe Drive in Fort Myers.  A light lunch will be served.    “For patients who do not wish to have surgery or who have aging changes that do not yet necessitate surgery, Ultherapy may be a good choice.  Low levels of focused ultrasound energy are delivered at just the right depth below the skin to achieve tightening and firming, while leaving the surface of the skin undisturbed. The procedure also stimulates the creation of new collagen, which gives the skin its youthfulness,” Dr. Prendiville said.
   There is no downtime with Ultherapy and the regenerative process continues gradually for up to one year, Dr. Prendiville added.
   In clinical trials by the Food and Drug Administration, 9 out of 10 patients had a noticeable, significant lift of the brow line, resulting in reduced skin laxity on the eyelid and a more open, youthful look to the eyes.
   Ultherapy is one of several procedures, both surgical and non-surgical, that Dr. Prendiville will discuss at his “All About Face” seminar April 11.  Using before and after pictures of actual patients, Dr. Prendiville will discuss the latest advances in facelifts, eyelid lifts, nose surgery, lasers, and reconstructive surgery.  He also will review injectable wrinkle fillers Botox®, Sculptra®, Juvederm®, Restylane® and Radiesse®.

Dr. Prendiville is the only Fellowship-trained facial plastic surgeon in Fort Myers who is certified by both the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the American Board of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery.  He has performed more than 3,000 surgical procedures during his 10 years of practice in Fort Myers.
He is recognized nationally as a facelift expert with more than 20 articles published in medical journals and he has served as guest editor for Facial Plastic Surgery Clinics of North America.
In 2008, he was invited to join RealSelf.com as a reviewer and has now achieved Distinguished Member status for his responses to patients with questions about facial plastic surgery and skin rejuvenation techniques.
Dr. Prendiville is the past president and secretary/treasurer of the Florida Society of Facial Plastic Surgery, an association consisting of 250 facial plastic surgeons in the state.
