By: A & R Select Wick is from Quebec City, Canada. After years of playing in a band 20 year old Frank Martin had accumulated and recorded over 50 songs of his own. His one quest was to find the right musicians to perform these songs. Finally through the internet and through friends of friends, Frank was able to secure a group that he knew could represent his songs the way they were meant to be portrayed. Band members include Frank Martin, Charles Caron-Gelly( These songs were all recorded originally by Frank Martin on his solo CD “Someday You’ll See”, Frank, being the ultimate musician, played many if not all of the instruments on the CD including guitar, bass, piano, accordion, mandolin, harmonica and on and on. This CD had a sound reminiscent to Counting Crows and Ben Harper and is a pure joy to experience. Wick is proud to announce the release of 2 singles from their bands yet to be released CD which is due out in Summer of 2012. “The Sovereign’s Plea” is symbolic to trusting your inner voice for the answers and not rely on anyone else. It’s about making it happen your way and not asking anyone whether it’s right or wrong. It has multiple guitar tracks and the reveal of a powerful ‘wall of sound’ with raw vocals from Frank. It has plenty of awesome hooks that resemble the 90’s sound with a contemporary flare to it. “Lifelong Seconds” is about life changing in one blink of an eye. It’s a vision of life being lived through frames absorbing every one. Frank Martin describes it as “the butterfly effect” - events like a car crash or a missed goal that can last but for one second that can change life forever. This song highlights the extra ordinary writing skills and wonderful musical arrangement that makes this piece stand out. It’s a ballad with a message performed with depth and grace. One of many common threads that run through their songs is that edgy sound with open chords and very distinct vocals, song structure and so many more that act as the nucleus of these songs of the writers deliberate placement of sound and structure. Wick’s sound is easily recognized due to their unique sound, arrangements and delivery.
