Phil La Duke to Present Safety & Social Networking at the 2012 National Safety Council Annual Con
The internationally renowned speaker, blogger, and author returns to the National Safety Council to speak on the role that social networking can play in worker safety management initiatives.
“I’m really excited about this particular appearance at the National Safety Council,” says La Duke, “social networking is evolving in ways that can really help safety professionals, but it can be tough navigating these waters without some advice.”
The interest in, and use of, Social Networking in safety has risen sharply in recent days. “There is an art to integrating Facebook, LinkedIn, blogs, and Twitter; it’s an easy soup to screw up,” advises La Duke, “I’m hoping to share the benefits of my mistakes”. La Duke has over 1,000 LinkedIn contacts, two Twitter accounts, and maintains two blogs and a corporate Facebook account. “Using the right sequencing and tools a safety professional can develop a synergy between the tools that allows for a message to be quickly distributed worldwide, this can be live-saving if properly used in worker safety.” La Duke envisions a world where safety talks, bulletins, and read-across can be instantaneously communicated to the people who need it most.
La Duke is also scheduled make two presentations at the Michigan Safety Conference, next month. Engagement: The Key to Changing Your Safety Culture is slated for 1:30 p.m. –2:30 p.m., Tuesday April 17, 2012; and Making Safety Talks Better is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.–2:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 18, 2012.
