Steve Callahan (Role/Play, East Side Story) is nominated as Best Actor for his portrayal of Denis in the feature film, Abrupt Decision, by the 2012 TLA Gaybie Awards.

The prestigious annual award recognizing contributions to gay and lesbian media announced Callahan's nomination at the beginning of March.  His primary contender is Leonard DiCaprio (J. Edgar), but the field also includes Steve's life partner, Matthew Montgomery (Finding Mr. Wright).

“That was a fun surprise!” Callahan modestly responded to his nomination. “As they say, it is an honor just to be nominated...”

Callahan portrays a mid-level manager whose unexpected layoff is the beginning of spiraling troubles in his marriage.  As his life's ambitions plummet he makes an abrupt decision to start a care facility for stray dogs, rescuing hundreds of animals from euthanasia. He soon expands the operation by providing companion animals at the local hospital. His new outlook on life shakes him from mid-life crisis and he starts to live again.

Abrupt Decision is available from major online retailers, including Amazon, Barnes and Noble and Best Buy.  DVDs autographed by the film director, Paul Bright, are available at

Winners of the TLA Gaybie Awards will be announced April 15th.
