By: A & R Select Koreen Perry was born and raised in Edmonton most of her life. She lived in the Calgary area for ten years and even a six month stay in Australia where her career as a live TV captioner took her. She knew at an early age she was a performer and has been an actress for theatre and film since she was a teenager. She was also in a group called Edmonton Musical Theatre for four years where she learned she enjoyed singing as well….adding to a hint much earlier in her life of songwriting. She took voice, acting and dance lessons and raised a family. Then the realization that this performing bug wouldn’t ever leave her, she took the bull by its horns, moved back to Edmonton and began training again and performing at many festivals and events before deciding to give songwriting another shot. Who would have thought a mother of two, in her 40s, would decide now was the time to make a CD? That's what Koreen did, after getting the encouragement of a grant from RAWLCO Radio of Up 99.3 in Edmonton, Alberta, to produce the CD. Koreen sings retro style songs, from the 70s and 80s, easy rock/pop style, as well as jazz pop and country pop. “Turning Point” was released in June of 2011 to rave reviews. Her lead single with the same title came about at a time in Koreen’s life where she decided it was time to follow her dreams. The immediate response in hearing this song was the sweetness in her voice. Her vocals are soft, yet powerful. This inspirational song captures your attention and in so doing soothes soul with such a calming effect. Don’t be surprised if you find yourself smiling through the entire song. It’s a joyous song with great harmonies and a truly joyous arrangement. The CD “Turning Point” carries the same theme with songs full of great storylines, arrangements and delivery.
