Feb. 6, 2012 - PRLog -- Empowering Everyday Women (EEW) Online Magazine, the nation’s leading web publication for Christian women of color today announced that it has joined forces with Abingdon Press, a division of United Methodist Publishing House, to kick off National Marriage Week February 7-14.  Christian authors of “Married for Real: Building a Loving, Powerful Life Together,” Eddie and Tamara George, launch National Marriage Week as the feature story of EEW’s February 2012 issue. Readers of EEW Magazine will be given an opportunity to win a copy of Married for Real which includes practical tips for overcoming marriage challenges and building a relationship that lasts. Details can be found at http://www.eewmagazine.com/Eddie-and-Tamara-George-Married-for-Real-EEW-Magazine-Abingdon-Press.html.

According to the most recent divorce statistics from Barna Group—a research organization that tracks trends related to how faith and culture intersect—one-third of all marriages, even among Christians, end in divorce. Married for Real authors, Eddie George, a retired successful NFL player, and Tamara George, popular member of platinum-selling girl group “SWV,” both come from broken homes with each of their parents’ marriages ending in divorce. The two are hoping that by openly sharing their struggles and hard-learned strategies, they will contribute to the decline in divorce rates.

“EEW Magazine is pleased to team up with Abingdon Press to promote Married for Real which offers up God-centered advice for building strong marital bonds rooted in principles of the Bible,” said Dianna Hobbs, Founder and Editor-In-Chief of the publication, also a wife of 14 years. “I believe when people are given the right tools to equip them, they can experience fruitfulness and wholeness in every area of their lives.”

National Marriage Week, which EEW Magazine recognizes annually, is a collaborative effort to encourage many diverse groups to strengthen individual marriages, reduce the divorce rate, and build a stronger marriage culture, which in turn helps curtail poverty and benefits children.
