What is Multitasking concept in Unix and Linux?

Database DBA needs to know concept of multi tasking and multiprogramming feature of Unix and Linux.

Jan. 30, 2012 - PRLog -- The more contemporary phrase multi-tasking contains the idea of multiprogramming but stretch the idea to involve the capability to run different components of the same plan also known as clothes as well. The essence is that most applications can be handled as a series of lesser components known as projects. Sometimes these projects must be carried out and accomplished in order, separately. For example, endeavor 2, say, may need the results from endeavor 1 before it can commence. On other events, some of all of the projects in a plan can be usefully handled separately, without reverence to the other projects that are managing. And, of course, you will experience combined circumstances where endeavor 1, endeavor 2, and endeavor 3 can be run separately, but endeavor 4 must delay for their achievement.

Another factor in the jigsaw is that many add-ons, such as record and hard pushes, can also work separately. An I/O endeavor such as examining from a drive can be activated by program call in plan A and eventually left to run separately while the os tests its desk of hanging tasks and decides which of those that are “runnable” has the most important, say plan B. The perspective of plan A is then stored together with a banner showing its delay position, awaiting a drive study. The formerly stored perspective of plan B is then renewed and plan B begins undertaking. But how will the hanging plan A ever get restarted? Well, the I/O product needs to indication that its function is comprehensive, and this is done by a product stop.

Device stops are mail messages that program add-ons deliver to the CPU, informing it that they need its interest. For example, when you click a key on your key pad, the laptop key pad shops the value of the key stroke and deliver an stop to the CPU, informing it that it has information awaiting it. As the name indicates, a stop can happen whenever they want, and the kernel must take observe of it even if no immediate reboot of plan A is possible. The kernel’s respond to the stop in this case would be modify the position of plan A from “waiting for drive read” to “runnable”. This regenerates plan A as an applicant for performance, and gradually, based on its family member main concern, plan A will restore its place in the sun.

Peeling off these greatly stacked red onion levels is a complicated business; the key is to have an overall image and lots of trust. Fortunately, Unix provides you some simple orders that let you run as many applications as you wish and keep a record of their success.
