Jan. 22, 2012 - PRLog -- The Coba Mayan Encounter Expedition is part of Cancun Vista’s “Adventure Tour Series.” When Mayan Ruins are mentioned most think of Chichen Itza, which is the most popular Mayan Ruin on the Yucatan Peninsula, but the Coba Mayan Ruins tour offers a very different experience. The tour begins with hotel pick-up in the morning and an estimated arrival at the site between 9:30 and 10am.  When reservations are made with Tours-Cancun.com they will send confirmation of the tour and time of pick-up at your hotel. For tours up to thirteen people there are two guides, for groups more than 14, there are 3 guides for your security and comfort. The multilingual guides share with you all about the history of the Mayan people while on tour.

This exciting tour begins with the guides teaching you how to rappel 65ft / 21mts into “Cenote de la Vida” (Cenote of the Life). Once in, the guides harness you for a 300ft / 100mts zip line flight over the dry cenote that is surrounded by luscious jungle! You might even spot a spider monkey or some of the exotic birds that live there. The next part of the Mayan adventure is the kayak across the “Laguna Del Mono” (Lagoon of the Monkey). This is a great opportunity to take in the natural beauty of the jungle surrounding the Mayan ruins as well as the wildlife of the area. The third part is a twenty minute stroll through the jungle to the mouth of the cave system “Chimuch.” At that point you enter into the crystal clear water for a refreshing swim. Total time for this portion of the tour is approximately four hours.

After all this you have probably worked up quite an appetite! Lunch is authentic Mayan experience that consists of chicken cooked with the traditional Mayan flavors, beans, rice, hand-made tortillas and local fruits. Once fulfilled with a delicious meal and taken in the amazing view it’s time to explore the Mayan ruins.

The total walking distance to see the setting of the Mayan ruins is about 1.5 kilometers. You have the option to walk or rent a bike for around $5 USD. In the duration of about two hours you have the opportunity to explore “one of the most important and oldest (in the Yucatan peninsula) Mayan treasures in the region.” You will see and be able to photograph the pyramids as well as the famous ball court area. This particular Mayan ruins has a pyramid that you can actually climb up whereas at Chichen Itza and Tulum you cannot walk/climb the large pyramids.

One thing you are really going to like about the Coba Mayan Ruins is that there you will find the tallest pyramid on the Yucatan Peninsula and you can climb it and get one of the best views of the Yucatan Jungle in the Riviera Maya that you can imagine.

Some items to take with you are a swimsuit, towel, sunglasses, hat, camera, comfortable shoes, cash, and very importantly mosquito repellent!
