Follow on Google News | London's Top Ten Sociable Postcode PollPeople in south-west London are more outgoing and better at making new friends, according to research.
By: Sam Smith In fact, five of London's top 10 "sociable postcodes" are prefixed SW, making it the most represented area in a poll by CitySocialising, an online network for young professionals. W1 tops the list as the location for people to meet-up after making contact on the internet. This includes places such as Bond Street, Mayfair, Oxford Circus, Oxford Street, Piccadilly Circus, Regent Street and Soho. With so many of the well known shopping neighbourhoods of London and packed with coffee shops, restaurants and trendy bars this is not too surprising. In second place is WC1 or West Central 1, the second heart of the capital which covers Bloomsbury, Kings Cross and St Pancras and is home to people of all walks of life but is most well known for the British Museum, students and University life. London WC1 is one of the most sought after areas in London with shopping, restaurants, office space, hotels and parking all being at a premium with property sales and rent all to match. The area around Canary Wharf - E14 - is third and this encompasses the Isle of Dogs, Blackwall and Cubitt Town, with Battersea's SW11 the highest entry from a mostly residential area at number four. N1, which includes Islington's bar-laden Upper Street and the Shoreditch triangle to name a few, is in fifth place followed by Wimbledon. Kilburn, NW6, makes it to number seven and SW1, Putney and Wandsworth fill the final three places. Sanchita Saha, CEO and founder of CitySocialising, said: "One of the great things about being a Londoner is the abundance of opportunities the city gives to go out and try new experiences and make new friends."
