By: MEOW For Media Information: Carla DeSantis Black MEOW 3616 Far West Blvd, #117-121 Austin, TX 78731 carla@meowonline.org Austin, TX - MEOW (Musicians for Equal Opportunities for Women) announced today that the groundbreaking organization has launched MEOWgazine, a daily updated web site featuring interviews, news, event coverage and more at http://www.meowonline.org. Founded by the world’s leading advocate for women in music, Carla DeSantis Black, MEOWgazine not only promises to be the foremost destination for information and networking but also a way to ensure that women in music have an increasing number of opportunities. Black became a prominent figure in the music industry as the editor and publisher of ROCKRGRL Magazine (1995-2005). The ROCKRGRL archive was acquired by Schlesinger Library at Harvard University in 2008 as part of its exhaustive collection on American Women’s History. “MEOWgazine picks up where ROCKRGRL left off,” Black explains. “So many female musicians are still considered a novelty or are diminished by being over-sexualized. The media has a hard time taking women seriously as artists. They would rather focus on who they date and what they wear. MEOWgazine will level the playing field and inspire female musicians – especially those who are just starting out.” For more information visit MEOWgazine at www.meowonline.org, e-mail info@meowonline.org or call MEOW at 512.363.5345. # # # MEOW's mission is to level the playing field for women in music through networking, education, outreach and advocacy.
