Jan. 11, 2012 - PRLog -- Once considered a touchy-feely indulgence, research shows massage produces measurable immune system changes.
Because of mental and emotional stress, a lot of people have chronic pain such as tight shoulders or tired lower backs, and other negative responses in the body, including cardiovascular disease. These are some of many reasons clients turn to massage therapy.
A single massage could help boost your immune system and help you better cope with stress, even if you're not sick or stressed out. According to recent studies, massage therapy releases endorphins, the body's natural pain killer, and it increases the lymph flow part of the immune system.
Researchers have reported that a single massage produced measurable changes in the immune system and endocrine system of healthy adults. The study that appears in the Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine “found several changes in the blood tests of the Swedish massage group that indicated a benefit to the immune system. For example, Swedish massage caused sizeable decreases in arginine vasopressin, a hormone that contributes to aggressive behaviour, and small decreases in the stress hormone cortisol. The Swedish massage participants also had an increase in lymphocytes; cells that help the immune system defend the body from harmful substances. “
The massage is an essential skill for any beauty therapist. Many massage courses in London (http://www.beauty-training.co.uk/) involve specific training for full-body massage using professional techniques. Most successful massage therapists reach a good practice level within two years by attending massage courses .
