Quartet Makes Takeover Bid for Mission Chamber Orchestra of San Jose

Four San Jose community leaders, Ash Kalra, Jim Beall, jr, Connie Martinez and Cathy Kimball will compete for votes to take the baton of the Mission Chamber Orchestra and San Jose Symphonic Choir March 24 at the California Theatre
 
Jan. 9, 2012 - PRLog -- SAN JOSE, Calif. – January 9, 2012 – City Councilmember Ash Kalra, District 2, Assemblymember Jim Beall, jr 24th District,  Connie Martinez, Managing Director and CEO of 1st Act Silicon Valley, along with Cathy Kimball, Executive Director, San Jose Institute of Contemporary Art, will be vying for the opportunity to conduct the Mission Chamber Orchestra of San Jose with the San Jose Symphonic Choir in the performance of Katharine Lee Bates and Samuel A. Ward’s “America the Beautiful” March 24 at the California Theatre.

Starting January 9, 2012, the community can vote to pick the winner among the four “celebrity contestants” by visiting http://www.missionchamber.org on the web, making a $5 donation and selecting their favorite. There is no limit to the number of times a person can donate and vote.

"In this time of tight budgets, the Mission Chamber Orchestra of San Jose needs our audience's help more than ever," said Emily Ray, conductor and musical director of Mission Chamber Orchestra of San Jose. "Now they can donate and help select which celebrity conductor they would like to see at the podium at our March concert."
