Laboratory informatics decision-makers are concerned about security

Dec. 2, 2011 - PRLog -- In the last few years there has been a huge leap in the amount of intuitive and interactive technology available to individuals and organisations in order to make their lives easier. Increasingly, laboratories have moved away from paper-based data management to smart labs, relying on mobile technology – such as smartphones and tablets.

Advances in mobile technology has definitely proved its worth so far as lab informatics professionals encounter ever more pressure to cut costs, streamline supply chains and reduce time to market. But there are a number of challenges that still face this fledgling data management development before it becomes an integral part of all organisations.

In a recent Technology IQ survey, conducted ahead of the 7th annual SmartLab Exchange conference in March 2012, it was revealed that managing data flow between laboratories and overseeing relationships with external partners were ranked as some of the most important reasons organisations are considering new mobile capabilities.
