Silicon Publishing Collaboration Awarded Top Honors

MIAMI, FLORIDA. November 16, 2011. A luxury cruise company’s use of Silicon Paginator for churning out millions of flawless personalized customer itineraries was awarded the “Best of the Best” recognition by the judges at this year’s XMPie User Group Conference.

Max Dunn, CEO of Silicon Publishing, the company that invented, sells, installs, and supports Silicon Paginator, said the project “was a wonderful collaboration with the first-class development team of Royal Caribbean.”

1.   Handle static and dynamic content—which, in addition to variable data from any data source, can be HTML5, text, still images, and video,
2.   Successfully merge diverse design and content elements into a high-quality result according to complex business rules, and
3.   Establish structure-to-style mapping between input and rendition features such as table, text, and object styles.

The Basics of Silicon Paginator

The design and layout of documents produced with Silicon Paginator are based on a template made with Adobe InDesign. Silicon Paginator is set up to manage the process of reliably and accurately flowing variable customer data through the template into thousands of unique final documents that maintain the highest-possible quality, whether viewed online or printed.

When different amounts of data about each customer require different layouts for their personalized final version, Silicon Paginator automatically handles the adjustments. For example, a customer with a lot of data might require additional table rows, page columns, or even an entire extra page. Silicon Paginator ensures that the compilation of all the differing inputs for each customer’s final rendition falls together without errors by adjusting such things as table structures, image placement, space for text, and page count.

Advanced Web-to-Print with HTML5

Silicon Publishing builds advanced web-to-print products with the industry’s most up-to-date tools, including HTML5, CSS3, Canvas, and SVG. A Silicon Paginator module that was central to the Royal Caribbean implementation is a mechanism that maps HTML content to InDesign document structures and styles. This “round-trip” mapping of HTML to and from Adobe InDesign content and style templates is something Silicon Publishing has been doing for ten years. Now, recent advances in both technologies “are letting us do what we already do even better,” said Dunn. “For example, we can offer easier template setup, and higher rendition integrity.
