Hampton Roads Recognizes Excellence in Ministry

Nov. 15, 2011 - PRLog -- HAMPTON ROADS, VA, November 14, 2011 – On Friday, December 2, 2011, Hampton Roads Ministry Partners will present the “Hampton Roads Holiday Concert” (HRHC) featuring GRAMMY, Soul Train Music and Stellar Award Nominee JJ Hairston and Youthful Praise. Sharing the stage with the dynamic group will be Peggy Britt, Patrick Riddick and D’vyne Worship, Mona J, Alex Holt and Free Worship, Naomi Kim Thomas, Andre Jones and Sacred Assembly and Kenny Mayo and Godz Praiez. The event will be hosted by Jamila Joy and Ju Joyner and will take place at New Community Temple C.O.G.I.C., 3615 Tyre Neck Road, Portsmouth, VA. Doors open at 7 p.m., and the event begins at 8 p.m.

In an effort to show sincere appreciation for ministry leaders in the region, various leaders will receive the Excellence in Ministry Award during the concert. Pastors slated to receive the award include: Bishop Ted Thomas, Pastor Peggy Britt, Pastor Melvin Marriner, Bishop Kim W. Brown, Pastor Todd Davidson, and Pastor Michael Greene. The award shows forth community-wide appreciation to each leader for their lasting positive impact in the community throughout the years.  “Our goal is to recognize these awe-inspiring pastoral leaders for the tremendous work they do throughout the community,” shares Elder Marc Thomas, Executive Pastor at New Community Temple C.O.G.I.C. “While this is the first Excellence in Ministry Award, it will not be the last,” continues Thomas. Youth, young adult and seasoned audiences are encouraged to attend this worthwhile event.

Noted for their hit singles “Awesome God,” “Lord You’re Mighty,” and “Incredible God,” Hairston and Youthful Praise have an established undeniable sound that resonates victory. “We chose to feature JJ Hairston and Youthful Praise for our holiday concert this year because they never cease to bring the spirit of God with them,” states Thomas. “We realize that the community of Hampton Roads needs to be renewed during this economic and emotionally difficult season, which is why we want to strengthen, encourage, empower, and inspire people of all ages through this event.” Hairston, one of Gospel’s most outstanding choirmasters, has been a conduit of great Gospel choir anthems, along with Youthful Praise, over the years.
