Leaving dead trees on your property could be dangerous to your family and pets

Nov. 10, 2011 - PRLog -- Look around your neighborhood or any park around your house in Texas these days and you will find many dead or dying trees.

Cities and municipalities throughout the state are working feverishly to remove them but many homeowners have dead trees on their properties and are reluctant to do anything about them.

“These trees are dead or dying and have absolutely no chance of surviving so there is really no reason to leave them standing,” Louis said this week.

“That is a dangerous thing to do. If your trees are dead or dying and you think they may not survive, call a tree professional to take a look and advise you on what to do,” he said.

Other area tree professionals agree. Brazoria County tree expert, Jeff Elsing said this week that “the potential exists for some of these dead trees to come down on their own if there is a winter storm and you have other trees that are still alive now that might not make it through the winter.”

“People should be aware of the risks if they think they have a dead tree that is big enough to come down where they don’t want it coming down,” Elsing said.

Louis Flory of Ability Tree Experts advised homeowners not to attempt to cut down the trees themselves.

“Many homeowners may try to bring the trees down themselves because they think it is cheaper that way but trying to save the $250 to $3000 a tree professional or arborist may charge to remove the trees may end up costing you a lot more if it comes down on your home or car, for example.”
