Casterbridge Music Development Academy to perform at Mbombela Stadium

Nov. 10, 2011 - PRLog -- At the Casterbridge Music Development Academy’s launch concert, held on Friday 28th October, the CMDA had the honour of hosting Adrian Morgan and Nunu Macdonald  from afrofunk, the Promotions Company that is responsible for bringing Ali Campbell to the Mbombela Stadium for his once off South African concert.

“I was so impressed with the high calibre of the CMDA students that we decided to invite them to be part of the opening line up of acts prior to Campbell taking the stage” said Morgan.  “Our decision to invite the CMDA members to perform is also based on the fact that the CMDA is youth and development orientated, and there is no better way to accelerate their growth and confidence than to give them exposure.”

Mike Matthews, the CMDA’s Programme Director, reported that this invitation “is beyond my wildest expectations, considering that the first CMDA Music Hub opened only two months ago.”  Matthews stated that “ the CMDA’s programme aims to achieve cross cultural diversity, so we are a good match for afrofunk who are aiming to attract a diversified audience, generationally and culturally.”

This invitation comes on the back of the CMDA members being invited to perform at the recent Judith Sephuma concert at the National Botanical Gardens in Nelspruit.  “We are being flooded with booking requests for our various members to perform at different Lowveld functions” reported Leoni Viljeon, the CMDA’s PR and Bands Manager.  “Rest assured, we are planning a music set that will wow the audience.  As soon as exams are finished, the group will begin rehearsing in earnest,” Leoni.    Jo McCrystal, the CMDA Marketing Manager, said she’d been overwhelmed by the willingness of the local community to assist the CMDA in achieving their goals.  She added, “for this concert, we would especially like to thank Coca Cola Fortune who will be sponsoring the costs associated with getting our bands stage ready and to achieve the wow factor, that we have no doubt will happen.  We are going to rock the house on the 17th!”
