The Dallas Film Society to Present Two Special Screenings Honoring John Lithgow

In celebration of honoring John Lithgow with the Dallas Star Award at The Art of Film, the Dallas Film Society has announced it will be presenting 2 of his films on Saturday, November 19, with appearances by Lithgow and ROBOCOP star, Peter Weller.

Nov. 9, 2011 - PRLog -- In celebration of honoring John Lithgow with the Dallas Star Award at The Art of Film, the Dallas Film Society has announced it will be presenting two of his films on Saturday, November 19, 2011 with special guest appearances by Lithgow and ROBOCOP star, Peter Weller.

The screenings of THE ADVENTURES OF BUCKAROO BANZAI ACROSS THE 8TH DIMENSION (1984) and TERMS OF ENDEARMENT (1983) —for which Lithgow was nominated for an Academy Award—are open to the public and will be shown at 11:00AM and 1:30PM respectively at Angelika Film Center, 5321 East Mockingbird Lane, Dallas, TX 75206. Lithgow and Weller, co-stars in BUCKAROO BANZAI, will introduce the 11:00AM screening and will participate in a Q&A following the film with the Dallas Observer’s Robert Wilonsky.

Tickets are free for The Art of Film Guests and Dallas Film Society members who need to RSVP to Renee Contreras at rcontreras@dallasfilm.org. Tickets are available for purchase to the public for $8 starting November 15 at the Angelika Film Center Box Office. Rush line tickets will be available at the theatre on the day of the screenings, but seating is limited.

Cast: Peter Weller, John Lithgow, and Ellen Barkin.

Neurosurgeon/Rock Star/Superhero Buckaroo (Weller) has perfected the oscillation overthruster, which allows him to travel through solid matter by using the eighth dimension. The Red Lectroids from Planet 10 (led by Lithgow) are after this device for their own evil ends, and it's up to Buckaroo and his crime-fighting team, The Hong Kong Cavaliers, to stop them.

TERMS OF ENDEARMENT

Director and Screenwriter: James L. Brooks. Based on a novel by Larry McMurtry.          
Cast: Shirley MacLaine, Debra Winger, Jack Nicholson and John Lithgow.

Aurora (MacLaine) and Emma (Winger) are mother and daughter with an extremely close love-hate relationship. The film follows the two through the years as Emma marries Flap Horton (Jeff Daniels) with whom she has three children. She then finds a lover in the older banker Sam Burns (Lithgow), with whom she eventually has an affair with. Aurora cultivates the attention of several gentlemen in the area and is attracted to Garrett Breedlove (Nicholson), a retired astronaut.  The film follows their mother-daughter relationship—as well as relationships with others—and shows each finding their reasons for living and finding joy.
