PRE-WRITTEN ARTICLE:

MONTEREY, Calif.  (November 4, 2011) - Banks have been doing it for years, but now the wealthy are choosing auctions as a valid option in the sale of their luxury estates.  They sell their priceless art and antiques via Christies or Sotheby’s, and cars at the Bay Area’s renowned Pebble Beach Concourse d’ Elegance, where this year 5 world record prices were achieved.  Now, homes are no longer the exception.

Most wealthy people never have to sell, but often, they want to move to a new area, sell quickly to avoid tax consequences or multiple price reductions on stale listings have proven unsuccessful.  Auctions are very appealing in these cases.  Managing partner Todd Wohl of Premiere Estates Auctions, based in Los Angeles has said their business has increased by one third in the last year and added they have seen a 100% increase in opening bid amounts.

It is as simple as capitalizing in the market that we participate in where sellers are motivated to sell their homes quickly and buyers are looking for a great deal.  Auctions are a tool for sellers seeking immediacy in the sale of their home in a controlled process.

Danielle Tomassini, a real estate agent with Intero Real Estate Services in Los Altos has been representing the largest ICF green build estate on the Monterey Peninsula, known as Casa de Robles. The luxurious 13,000 square foot new build at 7820 Monterra Oaks Road with full ocean views has been recently completed and on the market at a current list price $7.1 million.

Most agents rely on the traditional real estate methods to sell homes and would likely shy away from the concept of selling a home by auction, but not Tomassini.  In fact, she met Todd Wohl and was impressed.  She said, “Working together with Todd, I feel like I am providing an innovative approach to accomplishing my client’s goals in a more efficient way with more market exposure than the traditional methods.”

Premiere Estates is a leading auction company in the US and is generating tremendous interest after the recent auction of a “Billionaire Beach” estate in Malibu doors down from Oracle’s Larry Ellison and the newest upcoming auction of Britney Spear’s former home.  Wohl said, “Casa del Robles is truly a rare opportunity to buy a luxury estate in one of the most exclusive areas which includes a membership to Tehama Golf Club. The value the new owner will gain is tremendous. ” Tehama Golf club, next to the property, was developed by Carmel’s most notorious former mayor, Clint Eastwood and memberships are rare and highly coveted.

Mr. Wohl assures the auction of this home will be a “win-win” for buyer, seller and agent.  An agent who presents a winning bidder will receive 2.5% commission, which is often the traditional commission on properties over $2.5 million and higher than most auction companies offer.  The seller of 7820 Monterra Oaks Road has selected November 19 at 12 PM for the auction.  The buyer is able to purchase the home pre-auction if desired. The opening bid is set for $3.9 million – 45% off of the original list price.

Auction: November 19, 2011, 12 PM on site at 7820 Monterra Oaks Road, Monterey; via phone or online.  Please visit for property and auction details: Casa Robles Auction: http://bit.ly/uqJtdy
