| "Let There Be Light" A Benefit ConcertDec. 10, the Xavier Society for the Blind will present an afternoon of music to celebrate the feast of St. Lucy, Patron Saint of the Blind. Following the show will be a wine and hors d'ouervres reception with a chance to mingle with the performers.

Come usher in the holiday season at 4 pm on Saturday, December 10th, with a delightful concert to benefit the Xavier Society for the Blind, at the Victor Borge Hall of the Scandinavia House located at 58 Park Avenue, four blocks south of Grand Central Station. The concert will celebrate the feast of St. Lucy, the Patron Saint of the blind, whose feast day is December 13th. Many Scandinavian countries honor her at this time of year with special foods, music, processions and, notably, with young ladies wearing lit candles in wreaths on their heads. Father John R. Sheehan, Chairman of the Xavier Society for the Blind, with five other great singers and the noted Woody Regan on piano will entertain with songs from Broadway, opera, and many other countries. One of the songs featured will be the sextet from “Lucia de Lammermoor,” Following the concert, there will be a chance to meet and mingle with the artists at a light wine and hors d'oeuvre reception. Take a break from the Christmas rush and spend a quiet afternoon enjoying the beautiful music. You will still be able to join friends for dinner or continue your evening with a Broadway show. Tickets are $40 per person, $75 to become a patron the event. Patrons receive preferred seating, a signed program and $35 of the ticket price is tax deductible.
