National research shows that less than 50% of family businesses make it to the 2nd generation, less than 10% make it to the 3rdgeneration and about 20% stay in the same family after sixty years. Registration fees are $399 if registered no later than Oct. 24, with $59 for each additional attendee from the same business; $199 for attorneys and CPAs if attending for CE or CLE credits. Participants may also register at the door. Marston will speak on “How Generational Demographics Affect the Dynamics of Transitioning Family-Owned Businesses.” As a consultant, Marston has provided generational insight and advice to leadership at the nation’s most prominent corporations, including American Express, Fidelity, Merrill Lynch, Kellogg, Coca-Cola, Macy’s, Warner Brothers, ESPN, Qualcomm, RE/MAX and Eli Lilly. He explains how their generational characteristics and differences affect every aspect of business, including recruiting and retention, management and motivation, and sales and marketing. His first book, Motivating The “What’s In It For Me?” Workforce (2005), explores the characteristics and motivations that each generation brings to the workforce and suggests management tactics applicable to any business setting. Generational Selling Tactics That Work (2011) is the first book-length study of generational approaches to sales and marketing.
