Oct. 21, 2011 - PRLog -- Monday, October 24, 2011, Poets Sarah Bedell & Roxanne Hoffman return to Nightingale Lounge in NYC's East Village to read for Su Polo's Saturn Series, a long running poetry open mic -- 18 years old in fact.  The reading will be a reunion for Ms. Bedell and Ms. Hoffman who first met at one of the weekly sessions of the late Arthur Bitterman's Riverside Poets Workshop at the Riverside Branch of the New York Public Library during the summer of 2003.  Ms. Hoffman continued to attend the workshop for about two years till she had to stop her participation due to conflicts with her work schedule.  She still occasionally appears at the monthly Saturday reading the the library and some of her poems were published in the early editions of the workshop's annual chapbook.  After the death of Arthur Bitterman, the original workshop leader, Ms. Bedell took over the helm of the workshop with another workshop member, Anthony Moscini.  The free workshop continues to meet every Thursday evening at the Riverside Branch of the NYPL and Ms. Bedell continues to edit the groups annual chapbook

Encouraged by her colleagues at the workshop, Ms. Hoffman started to devote more and more of her time to  poetry: she's hosted and continues to host poetry open mics and literary events, and in 2006 she started Poets Wear Prada, a small literary press, publishing mostly poetry chapbooks.  Her poems have also been well received and are widely published.

The Saturn Series was a popular spot for the workshop poets to come and share their work.  Su Polo's former co-host David Elsasser was active member of the workshop for many years.

The Monday poetry readings at Nightingale runs from 7 PM to 9 PM. Open mic sign up starts at 6:30 PM.  Nightingale Lounge is located at 213 Second Ave. New York, NY 10003. (NW Corner E. 13th St & 2nd Ave.) Directions: By subway take 4, 5, 6, N, Q, R to Union Square/14th St. or L to 3rd Avenue or 1st Avenue. NJ PATH to 14th Street and head west.

Admission: 2 Drink/$10 Minimum. A $3 Suggested Donation is collected by Host Su Polo to help pay the features.  Admission is restricticted to those 21 and over.
