Oct. 20, 2011 - PRLog -- Data Restore is among a long list of fake optimization programs created by hackers for the main purpose of taking money from PC users in return for a useless tool. Data Restore, through EnigmaSoftware.com’s technical analysis, was found to be a clone of other fake defragmentation and optimization tools. These programs go by the name of Data Restore and Data Repair.

Data Restore, being a clone of Data Repair, utilizes virtually the same techniques that attempt to gain a PC user's trust. That trust is unfortunately lost once clever PC users discover that Data Restore will not live up to its promise of optimizing their PC.

At first sight, Data Restore appears to have discovered several issues on a PC and then offers to fix these issues with registration which will cost a computer upwards of $70 to $80 in some instances. After purchasing a registered version of Data Restore, the application will then perform the same functions that it did in an unregistered form. These actions range from the displaying of fake alert notifications and falsified system scan results.

In order to cease the aggravating actions of Data Restore, a computer user must uninstall or completely remove Data Restore from their computer. This process sometimes involves the use of a trusted and updated malware removal program. That process is needed mainly because Data Restore does not have an entry in the add/remove programs function nor can it simply be deleted from one’s hard drive without digging into the Windows registry.

Several computer users have reported to EnigmaSoftware.com about the issues they face from Data Restore. EnigmaSoftware.com has responded to those reports with a newly released Data Restore Removal Report. The new Data Restore Removal Report includes useful resources to help users completely remove Data Restore from their PC in addition to helping them avoid installation of Data Restore in the future.
