Patent Issued for Tape Measure Calibration Tool

Oct. 19, 2011 - PRLog -- On September 27, 2011, Doug Christiansen was awarded a Patent for a Tape Measure Calibration Tool called a "Lixer".  This new tool is traceable to NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology) and many manufacturers have implemented use of the "Lixer" as part of their ISO plan.

The Lixer Tape Measure Calibration Tool allows you to verify the accuracy of your tape measure at the 10cm or 6" marks.  It will check both the push and the pull measurements of your tape measure.  This quick and easy procedure will help you identify any problems that may have occurred due to dropping a tape measure or from normal wear.  The Lixer can easily be taken to the store when you go to purchase a new tape measure as well.  This will help you select a tape measure that is accurate to begin with.

Traditionally a tape measure has been checked for accuracy against a steel rule.  This method does not account for the height of the tape measure end hook compared to the thickness of the steel rule,  and therefore, is not an accurate method of verification.   In addition, a steel rule does not allow you to verify the push measurement of the tape measure.  Use of the Lixer will help identify problems that cannot be identified using a steel rule.
