BikeaPack - The Folding Bicycle That Fits Into A Carry-on-size Backpack

BikeaPack - The Folding Bicycle That You Can Take with You in Your Backpack.

Oct. 7, 2011 - PRLog -- Laguna Beach, CA - (BikeaPack.com) BikeaPack.com has invented a folding bicycle.  Unlike any other bicycle, the bicycle WHEELS actually fold!  Bicycles are great for riders and for the planet, but there are problems if you want to travel with your bicycle. Storing or public transport prevent you from easily using the bike.  The size and weight makes public transport especially difficult.

All folding bikes are too tiny or too big.  The main problem is that large wheels prevent storage in a small package. The only solution is to fold the wheels.  Jay Lashlee, the inventor at BikeaPack.com solved the problem by reinventing the wheel.  The 26" wheels fold into pizza slice styled components.  The frame also folds.  Staying clean is possible with the greaseless driveshaft replacing the chain.  The drive hub has an internal transmission.

The complete process takes less than ninety seconds to pack or unpack.  There is practically no concern with dirt in dry riding conditions. Riding in the rain would make the folding process more difficult to avoid mud on the tires, but otherwise the solution is pretty elegant.  Riding the BikeaPack looks and feels normal without the small wheels of other folding bikes.

The included backpack measures 9 x 13 x 21 inches.  Weight is held to a minimum by using aluminum and titanium.  The bike is strong enough to carry 300 pounds, yet can be easily managed by a teenager without getting dirty.  Not a racer, not a toy, but can carry 300 pounds.   Just a way to have a bike on the subway, bus, in the sports car, in an airplane, in a restaurant, or just under your small desk.  The folding wheel is not designed for heavy vehicles or even small motorcycles.  Bicycles are the only target.

BikeaPack.com will offer the complete folding bicycle through a joint venture or licensed royalty. The prerelease website for development and marketing of an expensive version of the finished bicycle: http://www.bikeapack.com/

BikeaPack.com invented a smaller folding bicycle. The design has 26" wheels that also fold. Any rider can now unfold your backpack and ride almost anywhere on a daily basis. After you can quickly fold the bike into the backpack. The folded full size bicycle fits under a desk or in overhead airline baggage. It can be easily managed by a teenager without tools or getting dirty and can carry 300 Lbs.
