Oct. 6, 2011 - PRLog -- WEST PALM BEACH, FLORIDA -- Social Media Club Palm Beach County (SMCPBC) has teamed up with the Norton Museum of Art to host a live tweetup event during the museum’s popular weekly Thursday night art series Art after Dark on October 13, 2011, from 6-9 p.m. The event will feature speakers Jeremy Loper of 103.1 The Morning Buzz, CBS12 Tech Correspondent Craig Agranoff of Gripd.com, Mark Laymon of New Tech Community and Aaron Wormus of Clematis Tweetup and Web Mondays.

Art After Dark, a popular Thursday evening destination for those seeking a blend of culture and entertainment, features South Florida’s most popular musical and theatrical acts, demonstrations and workshops by inventive area artists, wine and beer tastings with an international flavor, food from Café 1451, film, lectures, exhibition tours, and holiday themes, such as Cinco de Mayo and Bastille Day.

“Partnering with the Norton to host a ‘tweetup,’ which is a meeting or party organized via social media, affords an opportunity for the art and tech communities to cross-pollinate, build new relationships and share ideas,” said Demi Pietchell, Chapter Chair of Social Media Club Palm Beach County. “It’s a wonderful way to educate one another, network, and potentially foster opportunities to collaborate across industries.”

Art After Dark also affords the public the chance to visit the Museum and tour its special exhibitions and Permanent Collection during the week after work. Current exhibitions include From A to Z: 26 Great Photographs from the Norton Collection, The Art of War in East Asia, Striking Impressions: European Prints from the Collection, and Recent Acquisitions: Photography.

Social Media Club Palm Beach County was established to raise awareness and educate local professionals and students about the value of emerging social media tools in building mutually beneficial relationships, providing cost-effective customer service, sharing information internally and externally, and marketing and public relations strategies, with a belief that social media should work with traditional media to improve the exposure, efficiency, and prospects of all organizations: commercial, not-for-profit, educational, or governmental.
