Sept. 30, 2011 - PRLog -- Salford-based property development company FreshStart Living gave away fifty iPad 2s to students at their first student property Montgomery House in Whalley Range, Manchester yesterday.

FreshStart had promised the first 50 students to sign up to rent a room at the accommodation an original Apple iPad but in a surprise move the students were given iPad 2s instead at an event held at Montgomery House yesterday.

FreshStart Living are a breath of fresh air for students looking for somewhere to live, whilst the Manchester universities and other companies in charge of halls of residences charge huge rents and even make the students pay a deposit, FreshStart Living did the opposite.

They offer the students the cheapest halls of residence in the city at just £75 per week including bills and internet and instead of being made to pay a deposit, the first fifty students were given an iPad 2.

Quotes from students who live at Montgomery House and received an iPad2:

Tendai Tinonetsana, 18, studying Youth and Community Work at Manchester Met University said:

“I was rather excited when I found out I was getting an iPad. I thought firstly, the price of the accommodation is really good then an iPad on top of that, it’s a real bonus. So i was really excited thinking ‘Why not?’”

I’m going to use it for my studies mainly and I’ll be using it to watch BBC iPlayer because I haven’t a TV in my room. I’ll use it for music aswell, blasting out the tunes, waking up the people in the next room.”

Jamie Pickles, 18, studying International Consumer Marketing at said:

“It’s good getting an iPad, it’s a really good surprise . You don’t really expect to get student accommodation and then get a free iPad with it. When FreshStart told me about it clinched the deal for me really.

“I think it will be quite helpful for me in lectures as well because I haven’t got a word processor on my computer, so I can use this in lectures to take down my notes.”

Spokesperson for the company Matthew Dyas said:

“The students were absolutely chuffed. They were expecting an iPad, you should have seen their faces when they were handed the iPad 2 instead.

“We decided to offer the iPads in the first place, not just as an incentive but also to build up a solid relationship with the students. We wanted to give something back to those who decided to rent from us and show that FreshStart Living is different from other landlords. For us, it’s not just about the bottom line, it’s about giving the students a quality and affordable place to live whilst studying.”
