Sept. 30, 2011 - PRLog -- Metro Detroit, MI – Detroit Dumpster Rental Explains How Improper Disposal of Plastic Bags Harm the Environment. Just recently, a new bill has been introduced within Michigan. This would charge grocery stores, retailers and other sellers a cent for every plastic bag they hand out. The House Bill 4919 has been introduced by Representative Douglass Geiss and Tim Melton on September 8.

The bill states that this fee does not include plastic bags which are specifically designed for a thousand or more functions. Therefore, this can be passed on to customers who ask for an extra bag to contain their purchased items. This then would show up in their receipts as a separate item from other commodities which they have bought. On the other hand, retailers then must pay the state quarterly, for the bag fees collected.

This is not the first time that the government tries to minimize the use of plastic bags. Detroit Dumpster Rental, a locally established waste management service provider, knows the damage these materials do to the environment. The company, who has long been servicing individuals and companies to solve their garbage dilemmas, gives a beneficial insight on how these plastic bags can become an environmental hazard.

Plastic bags are made from Petroleum, particularly a non-renewable resource. The consequences of using and producing these plastic bags add up to the reduced availability of our natural resources. In return, nature itself has been damaged from the much extraction of these elements. The inconsiderate manufacturing of plastics has been known to create toxic effects in the environment as well. The hazards from the production create pollution to the air, soil, and water. With its strong, non-biodegradable material, this cannot be mixed along with natural sources and can only contaminate it.

These items being non-biodegradable can also mean that these will take more than a hundred years to deplete; thus, they will be polluting landfills, oceans, streets, communities, and other areas whereas they are not properly disposed of. Detroit Dumpster Rental then advises to make good use of these materials and to reduce using them.  Rather, biodegradable items such as cloth bags and paper can take their place. The company promotes an environmental-friendly approach in taking care of the trash. You can learn much more here in their website, http://www.detroitdumpster.org.
