Sept. 23, 2011 - PRLog -- PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. – The Benjamin School is proud to announce that it will be unveiling a new state-of-the-art television production studio and offering a new film and broadcasting program which will provide its students with a unique opportunity to learn hands-on skills that transcend the typical classroom experience.

The new high-tech television broadcast studio will have enhanced LED and fluorescent studio lighting, four broadcast high definition television cameras, audio mixing and recording hardware, live webcasting and switching equipment, graphics production package with a virtual set design, 12 Industry standard Final Cut Pro post-production suites, 32 TB media servers for shared student workflow, six high definition field camera kits and two DSLR HD digital film camera kits.

“In this new era of the 21st Century skill set, The Benjamin School recognizes its responsibility to prepare its students for a world of technology never known previously,” said Robert Goldberg, Head of School at The Benjamin School. “The school has been traveling along the cutting edge with a wireless infrastructure on both campuses allowing for an “anytime, anywhere” cyber learning community.  Students in grades 6 through 12 own their own laptops as a learning and research tool.  The youngest children have computer instruction as well.  The new TV Studio and Video Production Program is unparalleled not only in schools across the country, but among the heretofore most sophisticated professional environments anywhere.  We are extremely proud to have attracted such a highly regarded professional in the field of TV broadcasting and video production to run this cutting edge program.”

With the new studio comes new classes titled T.V. Studio & Field Production and Television Broadcasting & Journalism which will be taught by first-year faculty member Ken Archer. Archer comes to The Benjamin School after starting a video production curriculum at The Villages Charter High School.

“This production studio they have created here at The Benjamin School is one of the most advanced facilities I have seen in all my years of television production,” said Archer, who spent more than 15 years in the television industry as a news anchor, news director and executive producer. He earned an Emmy nomination and won an Edward R. Murrow Award for a six-part documentary he produced on American veterans.

The Benjamin School will unveil their new television production studio during a special reception on October 5 at their upper school campus in Palm Beach Gardens.  With a new and fully-equipped digital broadcast studio and a high definition post-production facility in place, students will gain invaluable experience in media creation while developing their creativity, teamwork, communication, critical thinking, problem solving, media literacy, and technology skills.

The Benjamin School, a Pre-K-3 through grade 12 independent school, has a curriculum focusing on college preparatory education. For over 50 years, The Benjamin School has inspired its students to develop a coherent set of values that include love of learning, personal responsibility, self-motivation, concern for others and a commitment to serve society.
