The Junior League Asks: What Do Junior Leaguers Blog About?

From community involvement and voluntarism to emerging roots music and wearing Lily Pulitzer clothes every day for a year!

Sept. 22, 2011 - PRLog -- New York – It goes without saying that Junior Leaguers are an eclectic bunch. No better evidence of that can be found than a quick review of their blogs. We’re not talking blogs by individual Leagues – no, we’re talking about blogs that are acts of passion, dedication and, quite often, quirkiness.

Some are focused on the blogger’s community involvement and passion for voluntarism. Check out how Heather Smith Rocker (Junior League of Gwinnet and North Fulton Counties) goes to the heart of The Junior League mission with her Strategic Volunteering blog.

Others reflect the blogger’s personal interests. For example, Sloane Spencer (Junior League of Florence) has a great time doing interviews with emerging roots musicians about their songwriting and music in Country Fried Rock.

Some are intensely personal. For example, Danielle Noonan (Junior League of Arlington) talks about her experience in adopting a young girl in One Less and, in a separate blog, Salty Brownies, celebrates her love of great food.

Some celebrate the expat experience of a business move.  For example, Cara Martinez Davila (Junior League of Dallas) gives shout-outs to her Texas friends in Yellow Rose in Lux.

Some blogs clearly reflect the blogger’s business interests. For example, go to Social Shots Photo Booth Company to see how Angela Pasetes (Junior League of Collin County) markets her photo booth company for parties, weddings and corporate events.

And some are just fun! Like 365 Lilly, from Mary Catherine White (Junior League of Schenectady and Saratoga Counties), on the joys of wearing Lily Pulitzer clothing every day for a year! (Lily Pulitzer is a corporate sponsor of The Junior League, but the decision to go this route is Mary Catherine’s alone!)

“With more than 155,000 members in four countries, our membership presents a wide range of views and activities,” said Delly Beekman, President of The Association of Junior Leagues International, Inc. “For these members and others, blogging is a natural extension of their days – whether it’s focused on their work as volunteers, mothers, and community members or just a reflection of their own diverse enthusiasms.”
