Oceanfront Resort to Host Fall Watermedia Workshop

Springmaid Beach Resort Guests Create Watermedia Materpieces

Sept. 12, 2011 - PRLog -- MYRTLE BEACH, SC – Springmaid Beach Resort hosts its 59th Watermedia Workshops on October 30 through November 19, 2011. Aspiring and accomplished watercolor artists will converge on the oceanfront resort for three sessions of all-inclusive workshops that provide them with watercolor painting direction, friendships and a beach getaway in beautiful Myrtle Beach.

Different from many watermedia workshops, the program is all-inclusive in nature, allowing artists to immerse themselves completely in the art and learning experience.  The program includes five full days of watermedia instruction by notable artists culminating in a Friday Gallery Night celebration. Artists also enjoy six nights of oceanside accommodations and meals at Marlin’s Buffet Restaurant, located onsite at the Resort. A list of the classes can be found on www.SpringmaidWaterMedia.com .

The Watermedia Workshop program was started by Stephen Richards McCrae, a former Springs Cotton Mills employee, with help of his wife Miriam in 1982.  McCrae was a regionally renowned watercolor artist and began the Leroy Springmaid Watermedia Workshops at Springmaid Beach during his retirement years.  In the 29 years since the first workshop, celebrated and exclusive instructors from all over the world have shared their skills with aspiring artists.

“The Watermedia Workshops are a beloved tradition at Springmaid Beach Resort,” says General Manager Jon Konkel.  “We look forward to welcoming both the instructors and artists to the Resort, and are excited to see their wonderful creations.”

The cost of the all-inclusive program is based on three categories of accommodations: $1,381 for an artist and nonparticipating guest, $1,120 for an artist-only private room, or $918 for shared room with another participating artist. Additional details can be obtained by contacting Watermedia Program Director Regina Wynn at 843-315-7150 or at rwynn@springmaidbeach.com.
