2. The body injury, caused by bone cancer, joint injury, can produce titanium and titanium alloy artificial joints, bone plates and screws have been widely used in clinic. Also for the hip (including femoral head), knee, elbow, metacarpophalangeal joints, the interphalangeal joint, mandible, artificial vertebral (spinal orthosis), pacemaker housings and artificial heart (heart valve), implant and titanium mesh in skull surgery and so on.

3. The requirements for implant materials can be grouped into three areas: materials and biocompatibility of the human body, the material in the human body environment corrosion resistance and mechanical properties, as a long-term implant material has the following seven specific requirements:
① corrosion resistance;
② biocompatibility;
③ superior mechanical properties and fatigue performance;
④ toughness;
⑤ low modulus of elasticity;
⑥ the combination of good wear resistance;
⑦ satisfactory price;

4. Surgical implant materials are: metals, polymers, ceramics, metals and materials including stainless steel, cobalt-based alloys and titanium-based alloys.

Stainless steel inexpensive, easy to process, but the corrosion resistance and biocompatibility does not as good as titanium; the wear resistance of cobalt-chromium alloy is better than titanium alloy, but the density is large, heavy; titanium and titanium alloys as high strength, good biocompatibility and good corrosion resistance to body fluids, etc. are taken more and more attention. The inadequacy of titanium is poor wear resistance, hard casting, processing performance is also poor.
