Business and Entertainment Litigator Larry S. Greenfield Joins Spillane Weingarten

Sept. 6, 2011 - PRLog -- Spillane Weingarten LLP announced today that business and entertainment litigator Larry S. Greenfield joined the West Los Angeles-based law firm Sept. 1 as Senior Counsel. Greenfield’s litigation practice encompasses complex business, entertainment and intellectual property issues at the civil and appellate levels and in arbitration and mediation.

“Larry is a litigation veteran with more than 30 years experience and a lengthy list of winning cases involving complex and novel subjects,” said name partner Jay Spillane. “His vast problem-solving experience is one more resource we now have available to our growing client list.  Larry adds to our capability to represent our clients with the same expertise as law firms many times our size.”

Greenfield co-wrote the anchor chapter for the newly published "Entertainment Litigation (ed. Charles J. Harder, Oxford University Press, July 2011), a collection of lawyer-authored analyses about the entertainment litigation process and substantive law issues.  The book has already captured distinction as the “heretofore unwritten Hollywood Litigator’s Bible.”  

Before relocating to Spillane Weingarten, Greenfield was of counsel at the Century City office of Glaser Weil Fink Jacobs Howard Avchen & Shapiro LLP, handling a wide variety of business and entertainment litigation matters. His notable cases, among many others, include a Film Fund Trust Fund trial victory for Viacom; a Labor Commissioner victory for singer/songwriter Jewel; and copyright injunction victories for Lionsgate Films Inc., Carolco Pictures, Telemundo and Miramax.  Greenfield’s record of litigation success outside the entertainment industry includes implementing a strategy against a high-profile defaulting grocery chain purchaser in a bankruptcy action and leading the winning team defending a fraud case exposing a corporate officer to hundreds of millions of dollars in potential liability.

Greenfield earned his juris doctor from New York University School of Law after graduating from Cornell University, and then clerked for the Hon. Lawrence J. Bilder of the New Jersey Superior Court. He received a Certificate in Mediation from the Harvard University Law School Program on Negotiation and is admitted in California, New York and New Jersey.

A member of the American Bar Association, the Los Angeles County Bar Association and the Beverly Hills Bar Association, Greenfield is active in sections on litigation, entertainment and sports law, and intellectual property law.  He is AV-rated by Martindale-Hubbell and has been named a Southern California Super Lawyer for six-consecutive years.
