Rick DellaRatta, Jazz for Peace Benefit “Make A Better World Foundation,” Michael Jackson Legacy

Aug. 22, 2011 - PRLog -- New York, NY.  Internationally acclaimed jazz artist Rick DellaRatta will be at The Iguana Club in Midtown Manhattan on Monday, August 29, 2011 at 8:30pm for a public concert to celebrate Michael Jackson’s Birthday with nonprofits Celebrate Shamone, and Make a Better World Foundation.

DellaRatta, founder of the Jazz for Peace Foundation, held the first Jazz for Peace Concert in 2002 at the United Nations in New York, bringing together Israeli, Palestinian and American jazz musicians for an international audience. Since then, he has performed concerts for more than 700 organizations worldwide. In addition, Jazz for Peace performs educational programs in schools, and donates musical instruments to underprivileged children (http://www.instrumentdonation.com).

Jazz for Peace concerts have featured Rick DellaRatta along with such notable jazz artists as Paquito D’Rivera, Victor Lewis, Lenny White, Eddie Gomez, Dave Valentin, Ray Mantilla and many others. DellaRatta’s jazz-influenced orchestral composition, “Permutata,” was recorded by the London Symphony Orchestra. Recently, Rick DellaRatta was included in the Book “Jazz Singers” as one of the top Jazz Vocalists of all time and by The Foundation Center in their list of the top musician philanthropists of our time along with Bono (U2), Elton John, Peter Gabriel and Sting.

Celebrate Shamone and Make a Better World Foundation are 501c3 non- profit organizations inspired by the humanitarian efforts of the late Michael Jackson.  They are proud to join with Jazz for Peace because they both share the same goals in love for kids, music, bringing people together, and making the world a better place.
