Been Lookin' IS "Pretty Remarkable"

Ben Larkin (aka Been Lookin’) didn’t really know there was a story to tell about his life until after a 2001 car accident that he was involved in.  Left physically broken and the health industry telling he wouldn’t be able to walk again, gave Ben a challenge he wouldn’t surrender to.  It took many long and grueling months of slow painful recovery to regain almost the full use of his entire body again.  Prior to this accident he was a carpenter.  After, the demands on his physical body wouldn’t allow him to participate in this field anymore.  He became aware of his purpose in life at that point and he learned to share his life in the form of music.  He urged those to listen to what he had to say.  He learned the craft and strengthened his vocal abilities.  He now plays a variety of instruments.  He creates most of it himself, playing most of the parts live, then some of that is sampled and looped and other parts left in its entirety.  He welcomes the collaboration affords and fortunately has a wonderful roster of musicians that he can hand pick from for a specific project.  

Been Lookin’ is privileged to have the ability to share his experiences through his talents with audiences all over the world.

His newest project is titled “Pretty Remarkable”.  The single “Quell” leads the way has he “believes it speaks to the necessity for calm, for collected presence, for centeredness, and consciousness.  The level of awareness only found when we quell, the chaotic desire, pushing us away from calm center and return to the heart beat…” states Ben.  This song has a heavy bass line that delivers a joyful ride through lands unknown.  The electronic accompaniment is outstanding which is almost like a “funky tribal dance tune”.   This song as are most of his songs, a magnet to draw you inward to experience these roller coaster rides.  His music is written with an out of this world feel with plenty of hills and valleys to discover – to journey through.  I for one am glad that he chose this path to express himself.  It’s truly beneficial for all to experience.
 
Been Lookin’ has had all the advantages to create extraordinary compositions.  His studio is his home and he acts as producer and engineer who gives him that creative license experiment with sound, be incredibly creative and innovative.

He is currently working on putting a band together to tour for the purpose of simultaneous release of this new CD.  This past August 13, 2011 he threw an all weekend musical event at The Shea Theatre in Turners Falls, Massachusetts.  You can learn more about this event by logging on to www.thesea.org
