From Project Runway to New York Fashion Week: Beyond the Parallels of Our Perceptions

NEW YORK, NY, – The word “conceptual” has always been open to interpretation. It challenges the normal standards of perception and inspires creativity at its most raw form.

Aug. 16, 2011 - PRLog -- That’s why Jason Troisi’s inspiration for his debut fashion show is simple; love, freedom, life and war. His creative vision for the show is derived from an unorthodox source, the destruction of civilization and the resurrection of humanity. The James Troisi Collection is indicative of the progression of visceral beauty in an industrial society, as he believes in the vitality of the human spirit and its ability to emerge triumphantly through adversity.  This show is not that of a typical runway but rather a first-hand immersion in an ethnographic inquiry. His Collection is about disregarding all that is ordinary, and taking a closer look at what we have become as a society. We have to take a step back and ask ourselves, is this progression or regression?

For his debut collection, Troisi will use a variety of fabrics ranging from wool to tulle, chiffon to suede and leather to rubber. His color scheme ranges from his trademarked “nightmare” black to absinthe green and orange clockwork, showing the intensity of mortality through color. His deconstruction of classic fabrics showcases his innovative aesthetic and unorthodox approach to contemporary design.

Troisi designs for every woman who feels confident in her own skin, the woman who isn’t afraid of being the center of attention regardless of where she is, and the woman who has found struggle in the oppressed ideal of beauty.

“When man finds material comfort in this world, he forgets about his time of struggle, proudly flaunts his fortune, and in turn leaves the living behind,” says Troisi.  “I see this happening in this City. Built on the exploitation and the hardships of others, we have come full circle. It's time we fast from our lavished habits and be humble, if not for ourselves and our own dignity, but more importantly, for each other!”

This season Troisi’s Collection, House of James Troisi, will be accompanied by a variety of shoes compliments of DSW.

Troisi’s show is scheduled for Wednesday September 7th at Exit Art. The runway show is by invitation only and set to begin at 8pm.
